Noverdy Art Deco chandelier. Wrought iron frame with a black patina. 4 vertical glass plates and a central plate. 4 tulips with geometric and floral decorations. Electrified B22 bayonet bulb socket (available on Amazon US). In perfect condition. Total height: 58 cm Width: 65 cm Depth: 65 cm Weight: 8 kg Very little information exists about Jean Noverdy, a master glassmaker who produced mainly chandeliers, Art Nouveau style table lamps, sometimes with bronze frames, a few vases, and Art Deco wall sconces in the 1920s in Dijon. He produced under the name: Etablissements Jean Noverdy. His workshops were located at 17 Place Bossuet. He was a student of Henri Dubret (1872-1947).

Jean Noverdy, master glassmaker who mainly produced chandeliers, table lamps in the Art Nouveau style sometimes with bronze frames, a few vases and Art Deco wall sconces in the 1925s in Dijon. In the 1920s, Jean Noverdy created lamps with shades most often in glass with two layers between which he sprayed colored enamels to give a marmoreal look. Vases and molded glass shades are also part of his production. The same techniques used by Daum Frères, André Delatte and Muller Frères in this period. He also created vases and etched acid tones in the style of the Nancy school. Between 1926 and 1928, he was present at the Salon of the Society of French Artists in Paris. Lovely and delicate French Art Deco frosted art glass blossom chandelier signed Noverdy, France depose. Its distinctive design comprises four "V" shaped, fan like, jagged edged panels, each depicting stylized floral, scroll and leaf motifs, creating a natural and visually captivating setting. The chandelier frame is elegantly mounted by four decorated tubular bars held by a matching square canopy and features "les perles" which is beading that resembles a strand of pearls, all finished in its original light silver painted, hand forged iron with a martele surface finish. The motif showcasing a harmonious blend of artistic craftsmanship and functional design. The view from underneath appears like a blossoming flower or a floral bouquet. Art Deco, popular during the 1920s and 1930s, was known for its geometric shapes, bold colors, and intricate designs. The fixture holds both aesthetic and historical value, reflecting the design trends and craftsmanship of the Art Deco era in France. JEAN NOVERDY- During the early years of the Twentieth Century Jean Noverdy studied and worked at the Muller Frerès factory at Luneville, France. In 1925, Jean and his father René Drouhot acquired Verrerie des Vosges, a glass factory, and later expanded their enterprise by acquiring another glass factory and establishing their own glass studio in Dijon. The glass produced bore the signature "Noverdy" for Nouvelle Verrerie de Dijon. Noverdy produced at the same time as Daum, Schneider and Degué, and the quality and design of his art glass have made his name world-renowned.
