Pair of Art Deco Pendants in Brass and Marbled Glass, De La Mar Theatre, 1940s

About the Item

This striking pair of pendant lights was produced in the Netherlands in the late 1940s. The lamps were used in the entrance lobby of the renowned De La Mar Theatre in Amsterdam. The entire interior of the theatre was designed by the Dutch architect Ad Grimmon. The design is marked by the brass fixture with a classic bell shaped canopy and pendant holder. The central brass stem is made of a vertically reeded tube, which adds to the refinement of the design. The round, sphere shaped glass shades are beautifully marbled in soft yellow and brown hues. The lamps are in very good original condition. The brass with a natural and even patina. Please note the two glass shades differ slightly in color, with one of the shades is a more saturated yellow hue. Unless installed very close to each other, this is not very distracting or noticeable. Rewired for EU use. The price is for the pair, upon request also available as a single lamp.
