About the Item

Listed is a stunning and fully identical pair of Italian Mid-Century Modern pendants or chandeliers attributed to Stilnovo, circa 1958. These lovely pendants are composed of a black painted metal and brass collar which supports a conical opaline glass reflector — slightly curved inward at the bottom but mostly open — and feature a brass stem and black metal canopy. These elegant and refined pendants are characteristic of the high Italian lighting design aesthetics of the midcentury era as embodied by the legendary firm of Stilnovo. They are in a vintage unaltered condition with normal trace of age and use, and look really lovely for a pair of glass lamps of 60+ years old. Both lamps retain their original sockets, but wiring is redone to fit EU standard — adaptable on demand for USA standard. Height of both lamps is 63 cm, diameter of the opaline shade is 30 cm. This stunning R-60 ‘Cricket’ table lamp was designed in 1962 by Otto Wasch for Raak Amsterdam. It consists of a polished metal cilinder with two pins in it, a touch of minimalist genius. By changing the postion of the pins, the lamp can be placed in either a higher or lower postion. Its resemblance with a cricket is uncanny. The listed Cricket lamp is in original condition, wear consistent with age and use. The on- and off switch still at the bottom of the lamp. Wiring and plug have been renewed in the days, it carries a European plug and can be made suitable for use in the USA by changing the plug or using a holiday converter.
