Pair of Rare Venetian Murano Bell Jar Lanterns with Etched Glass and Brass Details, circa 1900
An extraordinary and rare pair of antique Venetian bell jar lanterns, masterfully crafted from hand-blown Murano glass around 1900. Originally designed for candle or oil lighting, these magnificent fixtures have been converted for electric use, preserving all their historic elegance and authenticity.
The finely etched floral and foliate motifs, combined with vertical ribbed patterns in the translucent glass, demonstrate exceptional craftsmanship. Each lantern is suspended by its original engraved brass band and chain system, crowned with a frosted glass canopy featuring delicate etched details.
The warm patina on the brass complements the intricate glasswork beautifully, making these lanterns museum-worthy statement pieces. Comparable in rarity and prestige to cobalt and amethyst bell jar lanterns that can be dated as far back as 1800, these Venetian pieces carry that same timeless grandeur.
