About the Item

A cone shaped perforated and layered ceiling pendant by Maria Lindeman for Idman. The lamp is made of three metal layers of dofferent colours ranging from dark grey to brik beige and light beige. The lamp is in it's original condition and has some wear consistent with age. A modern simplistic design suitable for eclectic and modern homes. In 1953 Maria Lindeman took part in a competition of lighting fixtures, announced by the Idman company. This competition resulted in a full-time job as the Idman's artistic designer. Lindeman's lighting designs varied to include both modern and classical forms. During the 1950s and 1960s Lindeman became one of the voices in constructing Finnish modernism, a participating member in the formulation of the Golden Age of Finnish design.
