About the Item
About the Designer - Arjun Rathi, a Mumbai-based architect, is the visionary behind Arjun Rathi Design, a multi-disciplinary studio established in 2012. With a keen eye for detail and an innate passion for design, Rathi has built a reputation for crafting captivating lighting fixtures and installations that push the boundaries of imagination.
About the Artist - Tejas Thackeray is a multidisciplinary artist and naturalist whose practice is rooted in the exploration of India’s native flora and ecosystems. With a background in wildlife research and visual arts, his work captures the delicate intersection of nature and design. This debut collection translates botanical forms into contemporary objects, reflecting a refined, nature-inspired aesthetic.
About the collection – Vanaspati
Presented by Rural Modern Glass Studio in collaboration with Tejas Thackeray. Rooted in the lush biodiversity of the Indian subcontinent, Vanaspati is a botanical-inspired lighting collection that brings together the disciplines of art, ecology, and craftsmanship.
A collaboration between Rural Modern Glass Studio and Mumbai-based artist and naturalist Tejas Thackeray, the collection transforms rare and endangered flora into hyper-real lighting sculptures — a celebration of form, fragility, and the natural world. Each piece is handcrafted in limited editions using the ancient craft of blown glass, interpreted through a contemporary lens:
Chandeliers bloom with elements drawn from wild orchids and the pitcher plant, creating immersive, suspended gardens of light.
At the heart of Vanaspati is a reverence for the wild — a luminous tribute to India’s native plant life, interpreted through the poetic alchemy of fire, glass, and collaboration.
About the Pitcher Chandelier - This Monotone Limited Edition consists of vibrant hand-blown glass pitchers with details using bitwork and flameworking. Involves intricate metal casted insects by artisans from Jaipur, India. Consists of pure brass metalwork in matte finish.

Arjun Rathi Design
Arjun Rathi Design is a multi-disciplinary studio working across Architecture & Lighting Design. The studio caters to designing and building Decorative Lighting, Glass and Lighting installations and artifacts. Working on both ends of the design spectrum, from single pieces made together with craftsmen to mass-produced objects developed in collaboration with the manufacturers; the studio is not defined by a particular style, but rather by questioning objects while considering their context and cultural associations embedded in them. We take inspiration from everyday things, which by a simple twist becomes something unexpected. We take care of each project phase – from on-site visits, exploratory studies, design and technical drawings to the final production and space atmosphere. Depending on the commission, we either design with a specific space in mind, or we work detached from it, resulting in a product usable in various spaces. The final product and accessories are always produced in our in-house manufactory, and therefore quality-certified. Arjun Rathi is a Mumbai-based architect running a multi-disciplinary studio working across Lighting Design called Arjun Rathi Design founded in 2012. Through his studio’s work, he interprets space through the lens of lighting, design fixtures, and installations that can capture our imagination and inspire us in these spaces. He is also the founder of the Rural Modern Glass Studio in Mumbai, which is India’s first art-glass studio.
