  • Antique Renaissance Revival Bronze w. Alabaster Shades Pendant Light /Chandelier

    Rare bronze chandelier with as many as eight arms with stunning alabaster shades. The time and effort that was put into making impressive and top quality lamps in the beginning of the 20th century is amazing. This rare and all handcrafted chandelier is a great example of such an amazing work of lighting art from that era. The beautifully crafted figural body of this chandelier, all the arms and all the 'cups' holding the sockets and shades are made of cast bronze in relief. Just look at the soldier, the businessman drinking his beer, the beautiful female and all the impressive and rich scrolling details around them. Before the body with all these figures could have been cast in liquid bronze, all these figures first would have had to been hand-sculpted into another material (often wood). From that other material molds would have to be made first and those molds would have then been filled with liquid bronze. After the bronze was cooled and set, the cast would have been removed from the mold, polished and patinated. This would have to be done for all the arms and 'socket holders' as well and finally all the parts would have to be drilled and put together with nuts and bolts. I won't go into the process of how the perfectly shaped alabaster shades and all the antique sockets...
