About the Item
A sensational and most impressive Russian 19th century Empire st. patinated bronze and ormolu eighteen light chandelier. The chandelier is centered by a fine inverted bottom finial with elegant acanthus leaves and beautiful pierced ormolu palmettes. Branching out from the elegant topie shaped patinated bronze body are eighteen striking arms. Each outstanding arm displays a fluted design and most decorative rinceaux shaped movements adorned with finely detailed acanthus leaves finishing in foliate reeded candle cups. Six fine chains center an impressive eternal flame finial and lead up to a central patinated bronze tier decorated with tied swaging laurel garlands, rosettes and a pierced wrap around band. Three chains lead up to the superb top crown which displays striking palmettes and additional scrolled foliate designs. Stunning satin and burnished finish and all original gilt throughout.
