About the Item

Exquisite pendant lamp crafted in Sweden by Hans-Agne Jakobsson, Markaryd, in the year 1960. These lamps showcase an elongated bronzed brass rod, extending to connect with the generously curved large clear glass element. The glass might look tinted (black or gray) in the first picture, but it is just the background. This pendant lamp by Hans-Agne Jakobsson features a clear glass cup adorned with charming bubbles. When illuminated, these bubbles create a captivating play of light on both walls and ceilings. The glass bubbles come to life when the lamp is switched on, transforming it completely. Furthermore, each cup showcases a unique arrangement of bubbles within the glass—a testament to the exquisite craftsmanship invested in its creation. Butiken Republiken currently offers this pendant lamp in two rod lengths; this particular item (Height: 60 cm Diameter: 30 cm), as well as one with a taller rod (Height: 105 cm Diameter: 30 cm). Looks great both when together as well as separately. ABOUT HANS-AGNE JAKOBSSON Hans-Agne Jakobsson (1919-2009) was a Swedish interior architect and furniture designer, born in Havdhem, Gotland. He became famous in the 1950s and 1960s for his elegant and modern lamp designs. After completing his apprenticeship as a cabinetmaker at 18, Jakobsson earned an architecture degree in Gothenburg. He worked as an industrial designer for General Motors and assisted Carl Malmsten and Werner West. In 1951, he founded his own lighting company, Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB, in Småland. His brass lamps and the iconic wood veneer lamps from his subsidiary, Ellysett, became trademarks. Jakobsson's lighting fixtures are known for their soft, soothing light and meticulous design, embodying his unique lighting philosophy.
