STACKED Illuminated Saucer Sculpture, Customizable, Shown in Walnut

About the Item

Let’s talk custom. It could be as simple as tailoring one of my existing designs to fit a specific environment, or designing something entirely new. The beauty of Richard’s signature STACKED style is based entirely in the process. Each STACKED object he creates is built, sculpted, and finished entirely by hand. To the confusion of many, there is no lathe work involved for any of his pieces. Imagine an analog version of 3-D printing, or coil pottery. The desired profile is defined during the building process. Piece by individual piece, layer upon layer, he additively sculpts each form, controlling both the wall thickness as well as the profile. Once constructed, Richard refines the exterior of the shade using a variety of hand held tools, resulting in a finely honed quality with subtle undulations very similar to that of hand built ceramics. The interior of the shade is left unshaped and is flash gilded with mica powder that accentuates the terraced contours (Shown in Sliver. Gold and Pearlescent White are also available). This Illuminated Hanging Sculpture is suspended from its canopy plate with 1/16" black aircraft cable and is fully adjustable within the provided length of cable. The cotton covered cord hosts a standard ceramic E26 base. Designed for use with an oversized lightbulb. ***See note regarding lightbulb below While this illuminated sculpture is within a private collection, we can tailor our style to create a shade specific to your space. Do you desire a different wood species? Taller? Or, Shorter? We will work together to design a form that is perfect for you or your clients space. Whether on, or off, the finished piece will be a one-of-a-kind Illuminated STACKED Sculpture standing proudly in your room. ***Please Note - the lightbulb shown in these images was an incandescent which is no longer available for sale or purchase in the United States. I am now using TALA’s Sphere V led lightbulb. This bulb is frosted and measures just under 8”dia (shown in final image). And, if desired, we can discuss other lightbulb options as well.*** UL Listed Components *It is advised and necessary to hire a licensed electrician for installation. **Pricing is based on a similar design.
