Early twentieth century work-of-art light fixture.
With early 20th century lighting in general (and alabaster fixtures in particular) as one of our specialities, we were again amazed to find a completely unique and highly stylish alabaster chandelier. This remarkable specimen is very Art Deco in style and with its calm and 'circularly geometrical' design it actually has a Bauhaus feel to it. It is for that reason that we believe that this truly rare pendant light was designed in Germany. It was most likely handcrafted in Italy, but for a German designer and for a German buyer. We have never before seen an Art Deco alabaster chandelier with the three shades adjacent to the center. It is a bold design and the Italian artisan(s) clearly delivered, because the perfectly carved and polished shades are as good as you will ever see. The patterns in the circular shades and the totality of this eye-pleasing design is unlike anything you ever saw and with the light switched on in the evenings it will create an atmosphere that is second to none. Each shade comes with an E26 socket inside and apart from two repairs this one of a kind chandelier is in superb condition. And as so often is the case, this superb light fixture from the heydays of European Art Deco is even better looking in real life. It is also rewired to the highest standard for safe and immediate usage the world over and it can easily take three bulbs of 80 watts each, which is more than enough to create the perfect atmosphere for every occasion.
