Vintage Craftsman Chandelier
About the Item
Craftsman style (sometimes called mission style) was born in the late 18th century as a direct response to the Industrial Revolution.
When society began to shift toward mass production, the craftsman movement pushed back by embracing the artistic value of hand-crafted furniture and decor. Many men, returning from the war, made their own fixtures.
Arts & Crafts lighting is also considered "Craftsman", built slightly lighter in finishes and with a little more flair. "Mission" lighting is Craftsman too with the simplistic design concept taken to the point of being austere. Usually in darker finishes. I believe this light to a nice transitional piece to both titles.
four 'fat-boy" sockets hold 3 1/4" fitter shades in frosted white. each socket os recommended fro 60 watts each. period style cloth wire is tatsefully weaved through vintage chain. Perfect for period correct lighting in dinning room of large living room.
