A magnificent American Victorian gilt metal banquet lamp, professionally converted from kerosene oil lamp, now electrified. Elegantly regal, with superb attention to detail, beautifully aged patina, producing a soft, warm ambiance
Born at the turn of the late 19th / early 20th century, having a swirl yellow satin glass shade with hurricane, fancy ornate font held overhead figural standing putti / cherub with tree and leaves standard support, rising on pierced scrolling foliate and shell base. Signed, marked underfoot: N. B. & I. W.
Circa 1891-1911
National Brass & Iron Works or N.B.&I.W. of Reading, Pennsylvania, United States was founded in 1891. They produced high quality brass and iron objet d'art until 1911. Though only in business twenty years, their quality, detailing and craftsmanship has earned them a following of collectors and decorators that has continually grown over the past century.
