About the Item
Civilized Primitives is an extraordinary unique collection that brings together natural elements and the old technique of bronze casting. The designer investigates the basic and functional methodologies of surviving into the wild and nomadic ways of living.
The inspiration from survival techniques and the respect for nature are at the core of the collection. Each of the pieces is modelled on branches found in the forest. sanded smooth on three sides and left textured on the last in her workshop before being cast in bronze.
Civilized Primitive's largest pieces are a single A-frame daybed with a seating cushion woven at the TextileMuseum in the NL and a desk with a conical light hanging overhead. A mirror. candleholder. floor lamp and pendant lamp do enrich the collection.
The three rough sides have been treated with a beautiful patina which will even get more lived through time. whereas the other side is smooth and high polished.
