Pair of Mid-Century Brass Candle Holders by Torben Ørskov of Copenhagen

About the Item

A mid-century pair of brass candle holders y Torben Ørskov of Copenhagen in their original boxes. 3 Different brass rods included making it possible to change the height of the candle holder. In original condition with signs of wear and age but no dents or scratches that we can see. Can be polished if so desired. Still with their original stickers to the base. Torben Ørskov founded the company when he was 25 years old and had just returned from the USA. Here he had worked as a salesman for a wholesale company dealing in design products. With knowledge of how to create a business based on design products and with lots of his own ideas about what good design was, he started his own store chain Form & Farve with his own design. The idea was to produce simple and functional design at reasonable prices. 1953 – 1986 Form & Farve in Copenhagen was the place to go if you were looking for something trendy and functional for your home. Form & Farve was an institution in Denmark for all the young and style conscious. Torben Ørskov must be said to be one of the most significant design merchants in Denmark in the 1950s and 1960s. He started production of several designs which have become classics today. One of his great talents was his sense of collaboration with designers. Torben Ørskov was close friends with, among others Jørgen Utzon, Kristian Vedel, Finn Juhl, Jørgen Møller and not least Hans Bølling, who all designed several products which he put into production.
