About the Item
Tall giltwood church torchère with deep foliate carvings, Italy late 18th century. This piece is finely hand carved in precise detail with deep foliate carvings decorated with acanthus leaves, all on a large, elegant base with carved rosettes supported by three feet.
The torchère has been converted to electric floor lamp but it can be easily return to its original function as candleholder. Silk shade included.
The overall carving is in fine original condition, all original gilt throughout with great aged patina, some small gwood and gilding losses. One small reparation professionally glued - please see last image.
