1951 M.O.M.A. Design Competition Lamp Designed by A.W. and Marion Geller

About the Item

This floor lamp, designed by A.W. and Marion Geller, was one of the prize winners of the 1951 lamp design competition sponsored by The Museum of Modern Art and The Heifetz Company, a New York lighting manufacturer who produced the award winning designs. The competition entires included many lamps that broke the standard mold of base plus shade. The designs show various, innovative approaches to lighting design, especially regarding the controlling and adjusting of the light. The Geller's lamp does that within a playful, sculptural form.
