1960s Italian design floor light by Gae Aulenti for La Murrina. The spherical globe shaped shade in clear, green, brown and amber glass freeform waved stripes with a black enamelled metal tubular structure on a round chromed base.
A Space Age modern design with a great presence and a sculptural style able to enhance any interior.
Gae Aulenti was a prolific Italian female architect, furniture and lighting designer famous for converting the Beaux Arts-style Gare d'Orsay railway station in Paris into a new home for impressionist art. She worked for private, public and commercial lighting firms like Fontana Arte, Martinelli Luce, Artemide, La Murrina, Guzzini and others.
La Murrina blown glass company dates back to the 1960s in Murano as a small furnace managed by a group of glass-work masters in time became a world wide famous company.
La Murrina is a symbol of excellence, quality and design.
