About the Item

This is a prototype floor lamp, custom designed by Michael Graves for the Disney Swan Hotel in 1990. The piece is formed of enameled-metal, brass, and lacquered wood. It is a special and highly unusual piece that epitomizes Graves' furniture design language of this era. This lamp measures 60.5 inches tall and 22 inches in diameter. The lampshade measures 20 inches across. It is in very good to excellent vintage condition, with some light wear to the linen shade. There is some wear apparent on the edge of the round table top. There is something magical about the coldness of brass and the warmth of the light filtering through the shade. The condition is consistent with age, showing some signs of normal use and wear, but the overall impression is good. The heavy patina on the bottom part of the lamp is actually really nice and adds an exceptionally authentic vintage look. The electricity is original and in working condition, however we do recommend it to be changed to current standards. .
