Bauhaus Floor Lamp DSL 23 by Richard Döcker

About the Item

Bauhaus floor lamp DSL 23. Originally designed in 1923 by Richard Döcker. Current production manufactured in Germany by Tecnolumen. Nickel, opaline glass. Rewired for U.S. standards. Adjustable height. This floor lamp from 1923 is a clear reflection of the distinctive Bauhaus style, even though its designer, the architect Richard Döcker, never studied or taught at the Bauhaus School. The DSL 23 floor lamp is the perfect marriage of clearly defined shapes and lines, high functionality and sophisticated details, as simple as it may seem, the almost free-floating lamp head makes it an extremely elegant eyecatcher. The opal glass sphere emits a warm cloud of light, making the floor lamp incredibly atmospheric. The Classic design is just as suitable for private rooms like lounges, offices and bedrooms as it is for representative spaces in the commercial sector. Floor lamp made of nickel-plated metal and opal glass shade. Each lamp is numbered consecutively and bears the TECNOLUMEN / R.DÖCKER logo. The manufacturer recommends one LED 8W MAT MAX 100W. Bulb not provided.

Bauhaus Floor Lamp BH 23 by Tecnolumen
By Tecnolumen
Located in Los Angeles, CA
While we don’t know for sure who designed this sculptural lamp around the year 1923, we do know that the designer had a soft spot for mechanics, as the lamp arm can be aligned with a counterweight. It’s also clear to see that the floor lamp was created during the Bauhaus movement. Its playful form and flexible aura are reminiscent of Oskar Schlemmer’s traditional ballet figures and Marianne Brandt’s clear and delicate lamp designs. BH 23 adds a touch of art to sophisticated rooms. Floor lamp available with nickel-plated metal surface. Each lamp is numbered consecutively and the signet TECNOLUMEN...

Bauhaus Floor Lamp BST 23 by Gyula Pap for Tecnolumen
By Tecnolumen
Located in Los Angeles, CA
In his final year as a Bauhaus student in Weimar, Gyula Pap helped out Georg Muche and the construction department by designing a floor lamp for their experimental house, “Am Horn”. The light source is a special design feature in its own right – an exposed incandescent light bulb with a mirrored dome, which had just been invented at the time. The rays of light are channelled downwards, making the light source appear dark. The light is absorbed and refracted by the etched pane of frosted glass in such a way that it appears to float like a shining layer above the thin, nickel-plated metal tube. This lamp was shown as an example of functional design in the Bauhaus Book...
