Contemporary upcycled floor lamp made from a reclaimed industrial fan by Girona-born designer Marta Torrent.
Part of the “Urban Mines” project, this unique grey metal floor lamp exemplifies sustainable design through the creative reuse of discarded urban materials. By transforming a decommissioned fan into functional lighting, Marta Torrent explores the hidden aesthetic and material potential of electronic waste. The lamp maintains the industrial character of its components while offering a sculptural presence that blends art and design. Crafted in London, where Torrent currently lives and works, the piece reflects her commitment to circular design principles—minimizing waste and maximizing reuse. Each object in the “Urban Mines” series is handcrafted and one-of-a-kind, merging sustainability with bold contemporary style.
Marta Torrent Boix, product designer and maker, currently lives in London where she has created this project, combining her passion for handcrafted metalwork with a sustainable perspective. Using a photographic archive, she documents the growing problem of electronic waste and explores its reuse. The exhibition culminates with her participation in the Entorns artist residency.
