About the Item

We kindly suggest you read the whole description, because with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Magnificent, elegant, and impressive floor lamp; stem is made up of cut, ground, and faceted lead crystal elements; the solid base is a fusion of brass with a soft and harmonious design. We must pay particular attention to the components of this work of art: they are in crystal with a percentage of 30% lead oxide (a material, developed in England by George Ravenscroft in the second half of the seventeenth century), very bright and transparent. The high refractive index has been enhanced by Master craftsmen following the old and complex glass techniques in the processing of the various pieces: first, they were cut and ground on the lathe with an Emery wheel continuously fed by a jet of abrasive sand and water, then worked with a fine-grained sandstone wheel powered also by water, then polished with a cork bark wheel wet with a mash of water and pumice, this to make the surfaces more transparent and lastly the shining phase which was obtained with a felt wheel wet by water, oxide pulp iron and cerium oxide. The various pieces were then assembled, creating the stem, with exceptional aesthetic taste by studying their positioning to take advantage of the light and the refractions of the crystals. Overall, long and delicate operations made the magnificence of this lamp possible. Produced by skilled craftsmen in France between 1920 and 1930 in the area between the Moselle and the Vosges where companies such as Meisenthal, Lemberg, Potyruc, Baccarat, Valle le Chatel, and Sant-Louis-lès Bitche created the magic of crystal, bringing it to the world an image of refined beauty.
