About the Item

Pienza, the elegant LED organic floor lamp by Winetage Design, artfully re-purposes wine barrels' oak staves from wineries on the Etna volcano. Combined with the allure and prestige of Rosso di Sicilia marble base, Pienza embodies the modern traits of sophistication, sustainability and made-in-Italy craftsmanship. Its sleek, vertical and timeless silhouette results from the smooth pairing of 6 oak staves, each of them manually planed by our artisans. One of the staves lodges the LED to irradiate a diffuse soft lightning. The distance between each stave is designed to create a delicate chiaro-scuro play of lights to shape the atmosphere, while inviting the observers to browse the alchemy of wine aging inside the lamp's staves. Each stave re-uses exhausted wine barrels' oak, made of solid, knot-less, and toasted French oak, from a Sicilian winery located on Mount Etna, the majestic and active Volcano on the eastern coast of Sicily. Several years of interaction between the mineral-rich wines from Mount Etna and the fine grains of the French oak yield a unique color for this capsule collection characterized by Mount Etna's 2017 eruption: in the inner side of each staves while the outside proudly displays the warmth of the oak veins. The base chosen for this collection is the elegant and distinct Rosso Scuro di Sicilia (sicilian dark red) square marble to honor the 2017 eruption. A result of millennia-long geological transformations through the crystallization of limestone under extreme heat and pressure, this Rosso di Sicilia marble is a stone of unique elegance, durability and refinement thanks to its unique veining patterns (used in a wide variety of artistic creations for thousands of years). A harmonious blend of nature's artistic precision and mankind's craftsmanship. The Rosso di Sicilia square base gives Pienza stability and a strong presence. It can be delivered in a straight-square line fashion or manually hand-cut. The unique interactions between Etna's mineral-rich wine, the French fine-grained oak and the unpredictable veins of Rosso di Sicilia marble make each of these 12 Pienza truly one-of-a-kind. IMPORTANT NOTES: 1. collectors acknowledge that the unique colors, marks and shads can vary depending on the interaction between oak and wine. The final color will be revealed once opening the wine barrel. 2. The unique veins and colors of the Rosso di Sicilia marble may differ from the pictures as it's a natural, unpredictable element. 3. Shipments outside of Europe may take a few days longer for the required electrical certification 4. Each Pienza will be delivered with a guaranteed certificate detailing the complete story of the origin of the product
