About the Item

Voici une description détaillée en anglais : --- Born in 1935 in Murano, Carlo Nason comes from a long lineage of expert glassmakers. His father, Vincenzo Nason, managed the renowned glass company NasonMoretti before founding Vincenzo Nason & C in 1941. From an early age, Nason was trained in the delicate art of glassblowing, mastering both the properties of the material and the intricate techniques used in shaping and decorating glass. His first designs emerged in 1959 as part of a collection of molded-blown vases produced by V Nason & C, now housed at the Corning Museum of Glass in New York. This floor lamp exemplifies Nason’s mastery of glasswork and material contrast. The golden brass structure provides a refined, warm foundation, while the four half-spheres in golden bubbled glass add a delicate, organic touch. Historically, bubbles in glass were considered imperfections or characteristics of antique pieces. However, bubbled glass has since become a sought-after decorative technique, created by controlling the melting temperature or introducing specific substances to form intentional, yet unpredictable, air pockets. This process enhances the lamp’s uniqueness, as no two pieces are ever exactly alike. The combination of brass and bubbled glass creates a striking interplay of light, texture, and sophistication, making this lamp a true statement piece.
