Italian Column Floor Lamp by Lamperti Polished Nickel Chromed and Enameled Steel

About the Item

This column floor lamp was designed by Lamperti and manufactured in Italy circa 1970. In the manner of Serge Mouille. Polished nickel chromed steel diffuser floating over an enameled steel structure holding the light source. Amazing sculptural lamp that presents with a strong profile and presence when lit or unlit. This lamp has been rewired for USA using a created LED tube light, replacing the Euro florescent tube that was original to the lamp.. Original parts available. No pitting to the stainless steel. On off switch on the floor. Total height is 73". Column only: 4" W x 4.5"D x 72.75"H. Base only: 9.25"W x 9.25"D x .75"H.

    Particular floor lamp in fiberglass and brass designed by Salvatore Gregorietti for Lamperti in Italy in the 1960s. The floor lamp has a semi-transparent fiberglass lampshade with brass profiles and details. Made from the usual fiberglass material, with brass details, it has a large diffuser, in the shape of a square dome, connected to the top by means of a brass structure. The central stem and base are in polished brass. One of the most significant international graphic designers, appreciated for the visual clarity and structural coherence of his projects. Born in Palermo, Sicily, in 1941. He studied at the Liceo Artistico di Brera in Milan and at the School of Arts and Crafts in Zurich. He began working in Milan in the early 1960s as Massimo Vignelli's first assistant. In the same period he designed all the books published by Milano Libri including the Linus magazine and the Italian edition of Charles Schulz's Peanuts. In 1965 he joined Unimark International as a junior partner, working with Bob Noorda on numerous corporate identity programs for major clients including Agip and Feltrinelli.
