Large Scale Glazed Ceramic Floor Lamp
About the Item
This lamp is glowing with love! Entitled 'The World Was One Big Heart' by Philadelphia-based ceramicist Sean Gerstley, this singular work demonstrates the artist's playful sense of proportion and scale, along with his instantly recognizable pinched surface texture and bold, color-blocked patchwork.
Visually, the proportions are of a table lamp, but the scale of the piece makes it suitable for placement on the floor as a standing lamp, though it would be a dramatic, heart-warming conversation piece placed anywhere in the home.
The slab-built piece is embellished with coiled hearts along the base, and openwork heart shapes throughout the shade, which emits a subtle glow from all angles. The lamp fits a standard E26 bulb (provided) and comes wired with a black flexible US power cord with built-in switch that plugs into an outlet.
Artist Information:
Sean Gerstley is a ceramicist living and working in Philadelphia, PA. After graduating RISD in 2012, Gerstley showed works made in collaboration with Katie Stout at Johnson Trading Company in New York and Gallery Diet in Miami. His work has been featured in numerous publications including Architectural Digest, Artforum, Dwell, Elle Decor Italia, Metropolis, Sight Unseen and Surface. He was also recently named on Sight Unseen's 2021 American Design Hot List.
