Our stories happen in places precious to us. SLIDE was born from the desire to produce furniture and light to create the perfect atmosphere that highlights emotions.
Design is inspiration, surprise, joy. It's the amazement of seeing something unique for the first time. It's creating spaces to feel good and live surrounded by beauty. It means giving a personal imprint to indoor and outdoor spaces. It means choosing your ideal element that is the perfect setting for emotions and experiences, which become indelible memories. The founder Giò Colonna Romano knows this well, combining his fervent imagination with thirty years of know-how in the processing of plastic resins, giving birth to SLIDE in 2002. The first note of amazement is the luminous furniture, which immediately became a must have in the world of events. Since 2015, his son Marco Colonna Romano has taken over the reins of the company, with the same desire to grow and innovate as his father. Thanks to a new panache and the team of young people it surrounds itself with, SLIDE becomes a beloved company for outdoor furniture: new shapes, materials and tactile textures have won the hearts and ideas of architects and interior designers around the world. SLIDE has thus created complete collections and furnishings, with new shapes, whose lines arise from collaboration with internationally renowned designers of the caliber of Alessandro Mendini, Paola Navone, Stefano Giovannoni, Fabio Novembre, Marcel Wanders, Karim Rashid, Marc Sadler, Francesco Favaretto and Marcantonio.
New materials were chosen and inserted, initially soft and rigid polyurethane, and then comfortable cushions, waterproof fabrics, tactile textures ideal for completing the polyethylene furnishings with taste and class. But SLIDE does not forget its first essence, lighting: in recent years it has developed a line of much more technical lamps for large areas, essential in shape but with great visual impact. For the first time, Slide has managed to give an artisanal twist to an industrial process: to meet the increasingly high demands of living, the production creates non-replicable shades, in which every small imperfection enhances the industrial process and makes each piece unique . Because Slide's strength has always been the careful reading of the market, the creation of something that didn't exist and which then became necessary: here Slide continues its production in Buccinasco, on the outskirts of Milan, but its name and its products reach more than 130 countries around the world.

Galerie Philia
Galerie Philia is an international contemporary sculptural design and art gallery representing emerging and established designers and artists. The gallery is the brainchild of two brothers who share a lifetime passion for art, literature and philosophy. Their distinct academic background sets them apart from their peers, as it sees them following a rhizomatic and transcultural approach in the way they select works. This involves combining elements from multiple cultures in what becomes a network of harmoniously interconnected roots, ultimately revealing the beauty of each unique creation. The gallery’s non-hierarchical curation sits apart from the ephemerality of trends and focuses instead on the true aesthetic quality of the piece – alluring and timeless. Unlike others, Galerie Philia does not focus on a single style – whether minimalist, organic or raw – but rather embraces heterogeneity. The Galerie Philia takes pride in discovering new talents, providing them with multiple international platforms to showcase their latest creations. As well as propelling the newest generation of 21st century collectible design, Galerie Philia also works with internationally known design artists. Galerie Philia has a strong international presence, with galleries in Geneva, New York and Singapore. In addition to their permanent spaces, the gallery organizes temporary group exhibitions and artists residencies in first-class locations around the world.

Sabine Marcelis (b.1985 New Zealand) is a designer living and working in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Raised in New Zealand, she was recognized from a young age for her design abilities, being awarded the New Zealand Young Designer of the Year. Marcelis studied industrial design for two years at Victoria University in Wellington, and continued her studies at the Design Academy Eindhoven, where she graduated in 2011. When graduating the designer was nominated for a fleet of prestigious design grants, such as the ‘Unge Talenter Designpriser’ by the Norsk Designråd, the René Smeets Award, and the Keep an Eye Grant.
Since graduating, she has been operating Studio Sabine Marcelis, working within the fields of product, installation and spatial design with a strong focus on materiality. Her work is characterized by pure forms and natural elements such as the reflections of light and water, which she believes highlight material properties. Growing up in New Zealand Sabine was surrounded by dramatic landscapes, always sensitive to the light of the sky, the ocean and the snow on the mountains, the artist was inspired by the communication of the natural elements. Her work captures these beautiful moments in nature on a smaller scale, as objects or installations.
Over the last decade, the award-winning designer has become known for her work with resin and glass. Her receptiveness for these two materials is due to their manipulability; sharp angular shapes as well as spineless curves can be protracted giving the artist endless scope for form. Moreover, the translucency of the both materials can be adjusted from sheer transparency to milky or solid opaque finishes. Working in collaboration with industry specialists, Marcelis intervenes in the manufacturing processes using material research and experimentation to achieve new and surprising visual effects, applying a strong aesthetic point of you to the material development processes. The series Candy Cubes is an example of the designer’s complex material investigation; a polyester resin mold is used to cast the piece, followed by an intensive polishing process. The cast resin is light sensitive, as sun rays shine down onto the solid blocks, the light illuminates the edges, sugar coating the sides, making the aptly named “marshmallow” colored candy cube appear edible.
As well as playing with natural light, Marcelis also experiments with artificial lighting in her work. The introduction of neon light to her material combinations expresses the relationship between light, color and transparency in a more constant context. In 2015 Marcelis produced the series Dawn Light whereby the introduction of a white neon tube to a series of different geometric resin objects was used to reflect a unique moment in nature; when the sun, clouds and sky all join together, creating a momentary riot of hues. The series was on show at the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Holland. Since then Marcelis has continued to work with neon and resin developing complex colour recipes and finishes, resulting in her Totem Series commissioned and sold exclusively by Side Gallery in 2019. The collection is composed of four different sized lighting elements, two table and two standing lamps. The Totems are built with several stacked translucent resin...
