Mid-Century Space Age Metal Chrome Arc Floor Lamp from Cosack, 1960s
About the Item
imposing space age archery lamp in chrome.
this rare floor lamp convinces with its sheer size. The shape and color is rather simple. A spherical lighting head at the end of a large arc that forms a semicircle. A chrome -colored hemisphere serves as a foot as a optical and real counterweight. The screen of the light head can be rotated around your own axis. This is how the light can be aligned. The entire light head can be rotated on the rod and adjusted in height. A large acrylic screw with a flat head serves to fix it. The lamp has a kick -off switch.

This 1960s Brass Cosack floor lamp exists in several versions. Other lampshades were used with the same base & rod. Also table and wall lamps exists.
The shade can rotate and pointed in various directions.
The Gebrüder Cosack (Gecos) company was founded in 1833 as a metal processing plant in Neheim-Hüsten, Germany by Egon, Friedrich and Theodor Cosack together with Gottliebe Tappe. It was named Metallwarenfabrik Tapp + Cosack. In the beginning they made liturgical items, crosses and upholstery nails made of brass and they also produced kerosene lamps. Later the company came to the production of electric lamps.
After the Second World War Cosack pursued a modern direction. A best seller were copper lighting for restaurants. The company was declared bankrupt in 1984.
