About the Item
1950s Italian Mid Century Modern solid brass floor lamp. This lamp is potentially attributable to Alfred Lelli for Arredoluce and invokes the style of the era including Oscar Torlasco, Gio Ponti and Jean Royère. With a height over 6 feet and extremely elegant aged brass this lamp commands an air of effortless luxury and grace.
The lamp is constructed of a single brass rod vertical stem. This stem is supported by a three-pronged buttress stand, also in brass. From varying heights at the top of the stem are affixed 3 adjustable joints to horizontal rods. The horizontal rods have at one end, which is furthest from the vertical stem, the lamp shade, and the other end, a counterweight. The joint between the horizontal rod and the vertical rod allows for a pivot of the horizontal rod in an up and down direction, levering between an angle of approximately one o'clock to five o'clock. The pivot joints are fastened by a screw lever designed to be tightened and loosened by hand.
The lamp shades consist of two sheet metal cones joined at their apexes, with the cone housing the light bulb significantly larger and containing a ring of circle cut-outs. The shades have their original off-white paint, which is in good condition for the age.
The height and width of the lamp vary depending on the position of the shades. However, it is roughly 6 feet tall (180 cm). The horizontal rods are of a length of 45 inches (115 cm).
