Ceramic F Lamp, 2022 Rooted in the intersection of man and nature, this uncanny collection employs recyclable, metalized ceramic insulator modules — conventionally used in electrical grids and poles — to form ambient spotlights via a patented manufacturing process. Manifested as architectural lamps and pendants of varying length, the high-tech fixtures represent a harmonious union of object, earth and universe. Their organic volcanic forms emit a warm glow from a dimmable LED bulb diffused by an embedded lens. Reminiscent of lava or fire, it bestows the designs and the surrounding space with a simultaneously terrestrial and otherworldly aura. Discarding disciplinary bounds, it applies a process-driven approach to a subtly subversive range of informal yet elegant, simple yet culturally nuanced objects that transmit a palpable zeitgeist. This process begins with a visual art theory that balances primary shapes — squares, rectangles, circles, ellipses and triangles — with pure materials that convey a considered purpose, emotion and idea. Paired to complement and contrast, these foundational elements create an uncommon harmony and explore a design’s individual character and mutable potential. The resulting objects assimilate the patterns, techniques and nuances that surround us, particularly within the urban and industrial settings upon which our society is built, with an acute awareness of the importance of efficient and responsible use of materials, processes and local production. Based in Milan, Italy, Nita was founded by Nicolo Taliani, who unites his European heritage with an ongoing exploration of sculpture and fine art, establishing a unique design language that synthesises myriad inspirations. From architects Renzo Piano and Le Corbusier to artists Constantin Brancusi, Lucio Fontana and Isamu Noguchi to post-modernism and futurism movements, and beyond, this wellspring combine to inform declarative objects, including jewellery, lighting, furniture and sculpture. Nita‘s products are meant to preserve the inherent qualities and imperfections of the given materials. All the products are handmade with this philosophy in mind.
