About the Item
An exceptional and rare early edition of the Tree floor lamp, designed by Ron Arad and produced by his own studio, One Off Ltd, around 1984. This sculptural lighting piece exemplifies Arad’s pioneering approach to design—blurring the line between functional object and avant-garde art. Crafted with a raw, industrial sensibility, the lamp’s winding tubular steel structure rises organically from a solid concrete base, evoking the unpredictable form of a tree branch. The minimalist exposed bulbs at each tip enhance its bold, architectural presence, making it as much a conversation piece as a source of light. As one of Arad’s early works, the Tree lamp captures the experimental energy of London’s 1980s design scene and reflects the ethos of One Off Ltd, known for pushing the boundaries of form and material. Early editions like this are highly sought after by collectors of radical contemporary design.
