Richly carved and polychromed antique standing Venetian floor lamp

About the Item

Richly carved and polychromed antique Venetian floor lamp Anonymous Probably Venice, Italy; ca. 1900 Painted and giltwood Approximate size: 56.7 (h) x 4.75 (w) x 4.75 (d) in. A standing Venetian floor lamp, richly carved and handsomely painted. This turn-of-the-century lamp—shaped in the form of a Baroque candlestick—features a beautiful timeworn patina and an elegant tonal palette of creams, golds, and light greenish-blue hues. A spiraling design forms its column, surmounted by an antique acanthi-inspired capital. The base features handsome foliate motifs carved in-relief and sits upon four giltwood lion’s feet. Condition: minor hairline splits and some nicks and losses to the polychrome. Requires rewiring.
