About the Item

This exceptional sculptural floor lamp was crafted in Sweden in the late 1930s, representing a rare example from the transitional period between Swedish Art Deco Functionalism and the emerging Swedish Modern movement. It combines balanced composition with refined decorative details, demonstrating the craftsmanship of its maker. The striking design is defined by the continuous arched arm, composed of meticulously turned solid beech spheres, lending the piece a dynamic quality. The circular base and integrated table are veneered in birch and elm, arranged in quartered sections that radiate outward from the center. The contrasting tones of the woods add depth and visual interest to the top surface, while a large turned wooden sphere anchors the transition between the veneered base and the sculptural beaded arm. The arm culminates in a brass socket and shade holder, fitted with a pleated ivory fabric shade finished with a delicate gold trim. The lamp is in very good original condition with only minor signs of age and use. Currently with 220V European wiring and a standard E26/E27 bulb fitting.
