About the Item
Sculptural and bright tubular chromed floor lamp, with its 17 light bulbs and 8 arm disposed geometrically and vertically composing an elegant and sophisticated source of light in your room, beside the sofa or in corner near the curtain.
The quality of the details and chrome finish is notable, dated from the 70,s probably designed by Gaetano Sciolari.
Sciolari is widely regarded as one of the most innovative, prolific and eclectic lighting designers of the Space Age period. Born and lived in Italy, he created several celebrated designs for lighting company Stilnovo and also collaborated with Goffredo Reggiani. His pieces knew a worldwide success, being imported into the US by Lightolier and Progress Lighting. It is not uncommon to spot his designs in mansions around the world, as well as in tv shows set in the 1970s and 1980s.
He worked almost only with metal, and his most famous and appreciated designs are those in silvered tubes, cubes or spheres - both shiny/chromed or matte. He confronted himself with all kinds of lighting, from chandeliers and sconces to floor and table lamps. The offered piece is indeed a floor lamp, with a round base, a central shaft and eight lights around the top, attached in pairs around the shaft.
It is very charming, and despite being unsigned, its style traits are almost certainly attributable to the pen of Gaetano Sciolari. Preserved in very good conditions, it is perfectly functioning.
