Specola floor lamp, designed by Zanelalto/Bortotto, fire enamel on copper.

About the Item

Collection consisting of a floor lamp, a table lamp and two wall sconces whose name is inspired by Paduan Specola, the historic astronomical observatory established in 1767. Light is diffused within hand-wrought and enameled copper parabolas, while the lighting fixtures gravitate suspended on cylindrical elements made of natural copper. That of enameling on copper is a complex technique, which involves subjecting the copper object covered with colored glass powders to a high-temperature kiln firing (over 850°C) with an unpredictable result. The lamps are made by designers Giorgia Zanellato and Daniele Bortotto in collaboration with Incalmi, which has been working for years to recover this technique.
