Stilnovo Style Italian Chandelier With 6 Lights In Brass And Opaline Glass

About the Item

This stunning vintage Italian chandelier features a sturdy frame made of brushed and polished solid brass. The light sources are six opaline glass spheres, positioned at the ends of six angled arms branching out from a central fitting. The skillful and balanced distribution of the globes allows for excellent, even lighting that is both bright and refined. To fasten the chandelier to the ceiling, craftsmen used three solid and strong cylindrical brass rods, drilled to allow the passage of electrical wires. These rods extend from the central fitting and end in a ring, from which an additional drilled bar carries the electrical wires inside a canopy for electrical connection to the ceiling. The chandelier was made between 1960 and 1965 in an artisan workshop in Milan, in perfect Stilnovo style, making it a 100% made-in-Italy product. Workshops and small companies in the region followed in the footsteps of Stilnovo, a famous Lombard lighting company, creating brass and opaline glass chandeliers that combined elegance and functionality. Milan and its surrounding region were the beating heart of Italian design during the 1960s and 1970s, becoming a center of excellence for producing handcrafted brass chandeliers, often paired with opaline glass. Several workshops in the city stood out for the quality and innovation of their designs, inspired by famous brands such as Stilnovo. Founded in Milan by Bruno Gatta in 1946, Stilnovo was for decades the most significant entity in the lighting design scene, serving as a laboratory and hotbed of ideas since the years of reconstruction and the first economic boom. What characterized Stilnovo in the 1950s and 1960s was the production and marketing of lamps with distinctive and innovative shapes. At that time, the objects designed by the Interior Style Center became unique pieces, true symbols of elegance from the 1950s and 1960s, leaving an indelible mark on the design and fashion industry. A meticulous and accurate restoration was carried out on our chandelier, completely disassembling the object and working on each piece. Therefore, our chandelier is in excellent condition. Measurements: diameter 75 cm, height 92 cm. For all our shipments, we use special packaging materials (custom-made wooden crates, Styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the objects.
