Bronzed wrought iron and chunky glass shade, work-of-art light fixture from 1910s.
This one of a kind and artistic workmanship flush mount from the earliest years of the 1900s is another one of our recent great finds. With early 1900s lighting being one of our specialities we are always looking to find unique fixtures that we have never seen before. This stylish specimen from circa 1910 perfectly fits that bill. All the materials and details that you see in the images of this antique light fixture are hand-crafted and the amount of time that this must have took is unimaginable in this day and age. We have owned and sold a few chunky glass light fixtures before, but never in such an amazing setting as in this formidable flush mount. The bronze colored and stunningly detailed 'base' of this flush mount is entirely hand-hammered out of one large piece of flattened iron which was then bronzed to create its ancient patina. The trio of fierce looking lions are holding rings and chains in their mouths and because of these chains there are 2 ways to present this unique light. We have chosen for the one whereby the chains are higher in the flush mount where they are linked behind the rosettes, but maybe image number 2 shows the intended way to hang the chains. Anyway, it is good to know that you have two options. With the deeper (or symbolic) meaning of lions having to do with majesty, strength, courage and justice, we feel that this light would be in the perfect place when these are qualities that the next custodian can relate to or feels strongly about.
The three small lanterns hanging from the strong metal rings in the lions mouth's too are entirely hand-hammered out of metal. And what amazes, even the few blacksmiths that are left in Europe in this day and age, is that, back in the day, they were able to hand hammer 3 entirely matching in size and design metal shades like that. Finally, there is the unscrewable chunky glass shade with the two sockets inside. For this shade the artisan(s) choose transparent glass only and that, to us too, is exactly right for this light. This striking shade with 'casually inlaid' large chunks of transparent glass combined with smaller chunks is in mint condition too. By unscrewing three small screws on the side of this shade, it can be removed entirely and underneath are the two extra sockets. In the same metal background / plate underneith this chunky glass shade also are the 2 holes via which this entire light can easily and safely be mounted tight to your ceiling (by using the custom made bracket that you can see in the last image of this listing).
Both with the light switched on and off this, almost 25 inches in diameter, flush mount is a work of lighting art on your ceiling, one that will never fail to impress. No matter where you decide to use it, this quality crafted light brings class and style in your home like no modern light fixture ever could. Mind you, this light is also rewired to the highest standard for safe and immediate usage in the USA as well and it will take eight regular American E26 screwthread bulbs (also LED). As mentioned before, thanks to the custom made bracket (see last image) this extra large, excellent condition and exceptional light can easily and safely be mounted flush to your ceiling and over any junction box.

Antique hand crafted, stylized sunburst design two light flushmount / fixture.
This 1920s two-light flush mount has the most serene look and feel and you will hardly ever find a light fixture from the early 1900s era in this good of a condition. Thanks to its matt white, single color art glass shade combined with the serene looking, single color wrought iron frame this light fixture could not be more timeless. Thanks to the matt glass shade and unlike almost all other midcentury glass flush mounts, this unique specimen does not at all reflect any of the surrounding colors or sources of light in the shade. Mind you, our photos were shot with this flush mount very close to a window and as you can see, the matt glass shade remains pure white in all of our photos, giving this fixture its unique, 'tranquil' look and feel. Combined with the handforged in fire, wrought iron gallery around the glass shade this timeless ceiling light will also work perfectly in a contemporary interior. Unfortunately we don't know who the designer is, but judging from the Arts & Crafts design and the quality materials, we feel, this should be by one of the better known European artisans from that era. The combination of this flush mount's large size, single 'color' and its timeless design with the hand crafted wrought iron makes it the perfect fixture to complement an Arts & crafts, an Art Deco or a Mid-Century Modern living room, office, kitchen area or bedroom.
