Art Deco Peter Behrens Light Fixture Chandelier, Opal Glass Nickel, Germany 1910
About the Item
A German glass and nickel light fixture with nice patina designed by Peter Behrens, manufactured circa 1910.
The lamp shade is made of two glasses: an opaline white glass at the top and satinated glass at the bottom. Both glasses are held together with a nickeled ring. The glass is marked with PB SPEZIAL.
New wiring with one medium or standard screw base socket. It works also with LED bulbs.
The condition is good. There is a small dent in the canopy.

Each chandelier takes twelve E14 candelabra screw base bulbs. 40 glasses with a pagoda pattern are hanging on a nickel plated metal frame.
The lights have great volume and in reality they look much bigger than you would expect it from the dimensions.

(14 April 1868 – 27 February 1940) was a leading German architect, graphic and industrial designer, best known for his early pioneering AEG Turbine Hall in Berlin in 1909. He had a long career, designing objects, typefaces, and important buildings in a range of styles from the 1900s to the 1930s. He was a foundation member of the German Werkbund in 1907, when he also began designing for AEG, pioneered corporate design, graphic design, producing typefaces, objects, and buildings for the company.
