Floor Lamp - Table Lamp - Murano Lamp - Glass Lamp - Collectible Design
LAGUNA lamp was designed by Renato Toso and made in the historic Murano glass factory of the Fratelli Toso. Laguna is made up of a square structure in chromed steel and 12 interlocking Murano glass plates, from clear to mother-of-pearl glass. According to surrounding and light, it changes colors from white to yellow, green or blue. All elements are hot molded Murano glass. Designed and built in 1955 and is in all its original parts of the time. This beautiful light pendant will make a statement, an endless classic touch of antique Italian craftsmanship for your special home.

Sculptural, highly decorative and well-made, these two lamps are timeless and can match any interior style, from Mid-Century Modern to a contemporary Modern Eclectic.
They are well preserved and show a pleasant, even patina of time.

A little bit about Toso Brothers ....
One of the oldest glass factories on the island, already open in 1854, the firm was mostly typical at first for its production of classic blown glass and, in the early years of 20th century, for vases executed with the murrine technique.
Between 1910 and
1914 an important event was the cooperation with the norwegian artist Hans Stoltenberg Lerche , who had a long series of objects produced inspired by the world of the sea; that objects, exhibited at the 1912 and 1914 Venice Biennali , represented a really unique experience in the Murano world.
Critics made a great deal of these pieces, in view of this extraordinary personality, after his death in Rome in 1920.

Renato Toso
Italian designer and architect Renato Toso creates beautiful mid-century modern and modern pendant lights and sconces out of creamy Murano glass. His designs have a chic retro appeal characterized by soft curves and effortless elegance. He is part of the design firm Toso, Massari & Associates, which he founded with his wife, designer Giovanna Noti Massari.
Toso was born in 1940 in Murano, Italy. Murano is a Venetian island with a long glassmaking tradition. Both Toso and Massari studied architecture in Venice and founded Toso, Massari & Associati in 1966. The studio specializes in architecture and lighting design for interior and industrial spaces.
Toso, Massari & Associati has partnered with numerous companies over the years, including lighting company Leucos, which Toso and Massari participated in founding. The studio has designed collections for historic lighting manufacturer Vistosi, one of Murano’s most prominent glassmakers. In 2007, Toso, Massari & Associati created a series of modular lamps called Ecos for the company. This series was followed up in 2013 by the Noon lamp collection, based on the moon’s phases.
The studio has won first place in several design competitions and shows, including the Venice Biennale, the Milan Triennial XII and the National Design Competition in Trieste. Its work has been exhibited at the Louvre in Paris, the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Palazzo Grassi in Venice.
Today, Toso and Massari’s children — Anna, Marco, Pio and Tito —are all part of Toso, Massari & Associati.
