About the Item

Large Mid-Century Modern circular flush mount light by Kaiser Leuchten, Germany, 1960s or 70s. The glass shade comprises a single piece of clear textured glass folded around a white metal frame, held in place with three silver-coloured screws as shown; the inside of the glass has a raised diamond pattern. An impressive piece of glass, in good shape. The design creates a small gap between the glass and the ceiling. There are signs of wear to the metal parts consistent with age, including spots of corrosion on the frame, scratches to the pins and one of the spacers/feet has been replaced. We have not noted any damage to the shade however due to the age of these pieces, and the making process, there may be small imperfections or nicks in the glass. Wiring: new wiring will be required in the country of install to ensure it meets your local needs and regulations. The light takes three large screw-fitting bulbs and we recommend the use of low heat bulbs. Approximate dimensions: Diameter: 38cm x height 12cm Please note the glass makes this a heavy piece which will require suitable installation. The glass will be separated from the frame for shipping.

A simple architectural piece comprising twin ceiling lights on a single back plate, designed by Alvar Aalto and stamped by the Finnish manufacturer Idman. Overall the fixture is in fair vintage condition with lots of signs of wear from age and use - scratches, dents, dust and fading - all left as found. Wiring: The original wiring has been partially removed, and will need to be replaced prior to install. The original bulb-holders took E27 screw-fitting bulbs; as with all vintage pieces we recommend the use of low heat bulbs to protect the fixture for the future.
