Bronze Mounted, Frosted and Hand Cut Bell Jar Lantern
About the Item
A "Bell-Jar" fixture is rarely found in this quality. The suspension chain and band are cast, not just stamped sheet brass; likewise, the candle holder and strawberry shaped boss that supports it are very substantial and solidly constructed. Moreover, the frosted shade is cut to clear with additional ornament, so much more interesting than plain clear glass.
Anecdotally, the former owner claims that it is Scottish and was brought to North America by her forbears.
