Caldwell Lantern

About the Item

This design by Edward F. Caldwell combines elements of classical Chinese Chippendale (18th century) style and Brighton Pavillion(19th century) style with a triple dome pagoda top in a six light, bronze lantern. Elements of the Arts and Crafts era are also expressed in the fine hand hammering and warm patina which has been lightly waxed. This lantern exemplifies the highest quality of craftsmanship of the bronze metalworks industry which includes Louis Comfort Tiffany and Caldwell. A lantern of this quality would have graced the home of a wealthy private individual or an important public building.
