About the Item

An exceptional and large scale pair of Italian 18th century Tuscan St. giltwood hurricane lanterns, circa 1750. Each lantern is raised by handsome richly carved paw feet below the square base with a decorative mottled design. Striking fluted architectural columns lead upwards flanking the fitted hand blown glass panes with one door at the front. Above are elegant wraparound balusters with urns at each corner centering the superb domes with fine over lapping patterns leading up to the pierced scrolled finials. All original gilt throughout.
