19th Century Pair of Three-Light Gilt Bronze French Louis XV Style Appliques

About the Item

Important pair of gilt bronze three-light wall appliques finely chiseled with rich rocaille decoration of foliage stylized. Style Louis XV, late 19th century. These appliques are stylistically comparable to the pair of appliques of the Châteaux de Versailles et de Trianon and they are inspired by the most famous bronzier of the Louis XV period, Jacques Caffièri (1678-1755), King's chiseller. He is the best representative of the style Rocaille, applied to the furniture and furnishing objects. His bronzes are distinguished by their daring, their exuberance, especially by their quality of execution: ample and supple volutes, vigorous chiseling.
