About the Item

At present we have SIX (6) pair of these original solid brass model 1706 swing arm wall lamps. These are the real deal, old school, with the extinct (not exaggerating) brass square tube cord covers, MetalArt marked backplates which go over the separate wall mounting plates, original solid brass finials and original lampshades (several different styles). Can be hard wired or plug-in. Works with three-way lightbulb. Designed by Georg W. Hansen in 1947 while improvising a reading lamp for his bunk during World War 2, we present this vintage pair of polished brass double swing arm sconces with original harps and solid brass finials as well as solid brass column cord covers. Signed Hansen original cast brass rectangular backplates (3 1/2" wide x 4 1/2" tall x 1/2" deep), allowing the option of hard wiring or simply wall mounting and plugging into an outlet. Three way switch. Each lamp takes a single standard Edison screw bulb up to 150 watts. This is the original swing arm lamp favored by designers for nearly 75 years. Each hinge can be tightened to lock in position. Manufactured by Metalarte, Barcelona, Spain for Hansen New York. Hansen Lamps was acquired by Hinson Lighting in 2001 after the death of Georg Hansen. They continue to be produced to this day in Spain and sold to the trade but they no longer make the cord covers and finish options are limited. When fully extended arms measure 20.5" wide. Wall plate measures 4.5" tall x 3.5" wide. Shades measure 11" x 7.25. Price shown is for one pair.

Pair of Maison Lunel Double Arm Sconces with Original Abat Jour
By Maison Lunel
Located in Hanover, MA
We actually have two pair available but this listing is for one pair of 1950s, French wall lamps by Maison Lunel in the style of Jacques Adnet having double brass arms with gunmetal accents. The wedge form backplate has a flick on/off switch. Rewired. We can mount to a custom backplate to accommodate your situation. It is very unusual to find the original two piece shades because they typically do not survive as they are made of colored perforated paper. Typically I would use a tall conical shade with these but a standard size candelabra shade...
