Amazing Pair of Gothic Revival Handforged Dragon Flying Sculptures Wall Sconces

About the Item

Gothic Revival pair of sculptural and highly decorative, wrought iron torchiere holders wall lamps. If you appreciate decorative antiques in general and you are looking for a pair of large Medieval style wall fixtures in particular then this rare and all hand-crafted pair in the Gothic style could be yours to own and enjoy soon. Finding a pair is always great, because that makes them ideal for mounting on either side of a fireplace, a hall bench and in larger homes we have seen antique lights on either side of a stairwell also. This artistic set of winged dragons with their fierce facial expressions is strong and firm and ready for you to use and enjoy. It has taken a skilled blacksmith in the early 1900s lots of focus, energy and dedication to hand forge these great dragon sconces out of solid iron. If you have never tried to create something out of a solid bar of iron then it is very hard to imagine how much it takes to create a pair of artworks like this. In the daytime you will have a marvelous set of sculptural antiques and in the evenings, especially with the lights burning, they will create a Medieval atmosphere that is second to none. They will arrive rewired to the highest standard for safe and immediate usage, wherever you are. Mind you, our price for this rare pair of rewired Gothic Revival sconces even includes perfect packing (in a custom made box) and also worldwide shipping from our store to your door in just 4 to 6 days. Maximum height x width x depth: 16 x 9.5 x 9.5 inches. We have a passion for the unique, for quality, for stylish yet practical and for craftsmanship of years gone by. Your purchases will be extremely well packaged and we look forward to serving you (again). You can shop all our 1000+ listings by pushing the button that reads 'View All From Seller'.

  • Large Gothic Revival Bronze Candelabra Wall Sconces / Candle Sconce w. Gargoyles
    Located in Lisse, NL
Great quality and very rare, large pair of Gothic Revival sconces for wall mounting. This antique pair of Gothic wall sconces for three lights or three candles each is another one of those antiques of which you immediately know that they are bound to find a new owner soon, because it ticks all the boxes. Perfectly handcrafted in the latter part of the 19th century these rare sconces have exactly the kind of patina that you wish to find on bronze Gothic antiques of this age. The heavy quality of the bronze and brass is right up there with the best you can find and the design of these decorative and meaningful works of Gothic art is extremely well balanced. The many perfect and all handcrafted Gothic elements in these three light candelabras are an absolute joy to look at. To us, the bronze gargoyle sculptures at the bottom are like the icing on the cake. What gargoyles stand for has been and still is subject to debate, but we best like the idea of them being there to frighten away evil spirits and bad energy. Mind you, the wires and the yellow tape that you now see in our photos will all be removed. You, the new owner, get to decide if you want to use them as candle candelabras or if you want us to rewire these sconces for you. We will do so free of charge and to the highest standard for safe and immediate usage upon arrival. When purchased by one of our American clients we will also attach American sockets inside the faux candles and also American power plugs. The four holes in each of the four bronze brackets make these large and impressive wall sconces very easy and safe to mount on your wall also. In the daytime, but especially in the evenings with the faux candles or with real candles burning, these antique Gothic sconces...
