About the Item

Large and stunningly sculptured, late 1800s or early 1900s wall light. This extremely rare and impressive work of lighting art was made and marked by an artist that must have been at the top of his game in the late 19th or early 20th century. Surrounded by four striking lily flowers this stunning Jugendstil lady sculpture has the most beautiful facial features and the perfect patina. When you have been selling antique light fixtures as long as we have, then you immediately realize how rare such a sculptural Jugendstil light is and to have found this large specimen in such superb condition made the experience yet another something to be grateful for. You just don't find unique and original Art Nouveau or Jugendstil wall lights of this size and design and because she is such a rare and stunning sight to see she will definitely light up both your days and evenings. In image 14 you can see a part of the back of this bronzed wall light and in that part we found a maker's monogram and the only top sculptor that we know that corresponds with that monogram is German artist Fritz Klimsch (1870-1960). This would then have to be one of his earliest works, but unfortunately (for us) we have no way to prove that. Whomever the first owner of this divine lamp was, definitely was from the upper, upper class. Mind you, electric lighting was a new thing in the world in those days and only very few people would have had the means to be able to purchase a work of lighting art of this size, quality and beauty. This sculptural antique is rewired to the highest standard for safe & immediate usage in the USA as well and when purchased by an American client, we can also attach an American power plug. However, this wall light looks the best when it is connected straight to the mains so that there is no electrical cord in sight (as in our photos with the lights off). This rare, artistic and superb condition wall lamp is great value for money. Especially when taking into account that perfect packing (in a custom made box) and worldwide shipping from our store to your door in just 3 to 6 days are complimentary.
