About the Item

Pair of wall lamps, designed in 1985 by Adam T. Tihany and Joseph Mancini for Foscarini and produced by Foscarini. This pair of wall sconces has a strongly geometric and playful design, and are entitled "Wassily on the wall" They are inspired by the aesthetics of constructivism and Bauhaus, particularly the visual language of Wassily Kandinsky, from whom the model's name (inner label) is also derived. The composition is reminiscent of an abstract sculpture: a shiny turquoise sphere at the top, acting as a light element. Two cones, gray and larger pink where we find the light spot. Both the sphere and cones are made of Murano glass, while the circular structure is made of red painted metal. Wassily Kandinsky (1866-1944) was a Russian painter and art theorist, recognized as one of the fathers of abstract art. His contribution profoundly influenced 20th century art, both pictorially and theoretically.
