French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Belle Époque Period Ormolu Sconces
About the Item
A stunning and very high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. Belle Époque period ormolu sconces, signed Vian. Each sconce is centered by beautiful finely detailed musical instruments at the base with a tambourine, pan flute, French horn, and staff below an impressive bearded satyr. The fluted arms display superb scrolled Rinceau designs draped with exquisite richly chased swaging grape vines leading to abundant cornucopia like candle cups with intricately detailed fruit and foliate designs. The central arms are decorated in the same manner, set in front of a lyre at the backplate and leading up to a striking snake and tied ribbon.
