About the Item
The lamp is a result of an reaserch into traditional blacksmithing techniques
applied onto an industrial steel pipe reffering the current state of modernity.
It comes from one single steelpipe, 2 cuts and after bent with heat of the
blacksmith furnace.
Ignis: latin for fire realted to forging metal.
Espace Aygo is an artist collective that has transformed a house in Brussels into a living experiment, shaping and constructing every element of their environment. Each room is an expression of their creativity, blending aesthetics and playfulness through unique furnishings. In their home, everything is oversized, from the objects to the spaces themselves, because they love doing things together. This philosophy of shared living is reflected not only in the layout of the space but also in the way they create collectively, turning every element into a shared experience.
Their approach to design is defined as patchwork—a spontaneous, layered process that brings together different materials and techniques. This collaborative spirit extends to other artists as well, who are welcomed through an informal residency program that continuously feeds into the project.
Ignis was part of the performance Exhibition "The Theater of Things" the show transformed the gallery into a domestic stage — an ever-evolving space shaped by the creative voices of seven designers. Each night, one of them slept in the space. Each morning, a journalist, curator, or critic joined for coffee and conversation — exploring what it means to live among collectible pieces.
Inspired by radical gestures like Gianni Pettena’s La Casa all’Elba and Joseph Beuys’ Coyote performance, the exhibition is both lived experience and open dialogue.
